It’s ok. You can say it. You can give yourself some grace to admit that YOU ARE TIRED.

Being the wife of a police officer is no easy task. You may feel emotionally and physical drained. Everyday. And may feel some form of guilt or weakness if you acknowledge your struggle.

But when we feel this way, we can feel burnt out, which can lead to anger, resentment, and bitterness...usually taken out on the ones we love. But today, as we start our week, grant your body an opportunity to rest. Take that extra moment in the morning to savor that first sip of warm coffee. Or hit that snooze button one more time. Take that walk or grab that book that you have started and stopped over the last couple years. And if that guilt sets in that a chore may go uncompleted, or that fancy homemade dinner will have to be made tomorrow.. know that it’s ok.

But also remember our Lord knows that we can overwork ourselves and feel guilty when we desire to rest. But He allows us an opportunity to place those heavy burdens on Him; which allows our loads to be lightened.

This week I challenge you to focus on Him and surrender those burdens. Allow your mind and body to experience rest. A true rest that only He can provide. For He calls those who are weary and burdened to help lighten our load.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
